ABOUT WHOSTARTED
WHOSTARTED is an independent web game built around football memory. Its core question is simple: how many players from a particular team and period can you actually remember?
Instead of choosing from multiple-choice answers, players rebuild an eleven from memory. The game covers clubs and national teams, with modes designed for daily play, discovery, progression and competition with other players.
What the game is
Choose a team and season or tournament, then type player names to fill the positions on the pitch. Correct answers reveal the matching players. Wrong guesses do not reduce your score, and hints are available when you need them.
Beyond standard quizzes, WHOSTARTED includes Daily XI, campaign-based Challenges, multiplayer formats and Rhope, a collection layer that connects game progress with cards and short football stories.
What an XI means in WHOSTARTED
The lineups in WHOSTARTED are not copies of official team sheets from a single match. The aim is to create a representative and recognisable eleven for a team during a particular season or tournament.
Football seasons rarely have one completely undisputed XI. Injuries, rotation, role changes and different tactical systems can make more than one selection historically reasonable.
How lineups are created and corrected
The database combines historical appearance and position data, WHOSTARTED's own selection logic, and manual review. Difficult cases are checked across multiple sources and assessed in the context of the player's role during that period.
Players can report mistakes. Reports do not automatically change a lineup: they are reviewed before a correction is published.
An independent project
WHOSTARTED is not an official product of any club, league, federation or player. Names of people, clubs and competitions are used descriptively and informationally, and trademarks remain the property of their owners.
The game does not rely on official club crests, match photography or broadcast footage for its core interface. Rhope uses its own visual identity and original material created for WHOSTARTED.
